House & Bedrooms

Traditionally furnished and full of country charm, where portraits of family members line the walls, all rooms have lovely views of the surrounding country side.
Trenake Farm offers AA 4 gold stars award winning accommodation in a 15th century  grade 2 listed farmhouse,  which was once used as a monastery for monks fleeing King Henry VIII during the dissolution of the monasteries.

Our History

We have been taking bed and breakfast guests in this  grade 2 listed farmhouse for over 70 yrs. Mrs Viola Philp started B&B with evening meal in the early 1940s, in fact she bought the very first brand new tractor the farm ever had with a year’s takings !!! Bearing in mind that the tractors on the farm today cost about £70,000 that’s a record I think she will continue to hold !! Back then families would come to stay for a one or two weeks full board holiday and often stayed around the farm all day.

Today our guests often stay a week or more, many returning year after year, but others come for a shorter break to enjoy all the very best South East Cornwall has to offer.

The Farm

The Farmhouse accommodation is set in the middle of 375acres on
Trenake Farm, which has been in our family for 5 generations.

Today we are farming 975 acres in total. 375 are owned with a further 600 acres on a farm tenancy.

There are three main enterprises. Dairy, Beef & Arable.
We have 320 Holstein/Friesian dairy cows which are milked twice a day at 4.45am & 2.30pm producing 3,000,000 Litres of milk a year.
